Welcome to the XVI Latin-American Congress on Chromatography (XVICOLACRO), this time jointly together with the 9th National Meeting on Chromatography (9ENC), to be held in Lisbon, Portugal, from 5th - 9th January 2016.

The COLACRO symposium series is the flagship international event for chromatography and related techniques in Latin-America. The series, started in 1986 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) by professor Fernando Lanças, has been held biennial in south-America countries and has become an important medium for the exchange of information and ideas in the expanding field of separation science. On the other hand, the Chromatography group of the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ) was founded in 1999 and since then, organizes a biennial meeting on chromatography in the Portuguese territory having always in mind the promotion and dissemination of these important analytical techniques.

In 2016, COLACRO symposium celebrates the pearl anniversary (30 years) and will be organized, for the first time out of south-American continent, by the Chromatography group of the SPQ, and will take place at the campus of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL). Therefore, to mark this partnership, the key theme will be "Building Bridges of Cooperation in Separation Science".

The program will includes plenary lectures, oral communications and poster presentations, in which the driving line will be the fundamentals, developments and applications of chromatographic and related techniques in areas with recognized importance in the society at large such as environment, food, forensic, pharmaceutical, aroma and fragrances, petrochemicals, biochemistry among many others. A highly attractive social program offering opportunities to know outstanding international scientists is also foreseen.

Looking forward to welcoming you to Lisbon in January 2016!

The Organizing Committee,

J.M.F. Nogueira
Chairman, XVICOLACRO & 9ENC

Brief History

The Latin-American Congress on Chromatography (COLACRO) is among the five greatest worldwide symposiums on chromatography and related techniques. The series, started in 1986 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) by professor Fernando Lanças, has been held biennial in south-America countries and has become an important event in separation science. Until the moment took place in the following places:

The Chromatography group of the Portuguese Chemical Society (SPQ) was founded in 1999 by professor J.M.F. Nogueira and, since then, organizes a biennial meeting on chromatography in the Portuguese territory, the national most important event in separation science. Until now took place in the following places:
